saving a dime

SAVING A DIME

or pennies and nickels. it all adds up and i have a few tips for saving money.
These days we are all trying to make less go farther, so i thought i'd share my ideas, in return you can share yours.

We don't hire anyone else to do anything that we can do for ourselves: including;
car wash, haircuts, painting, hauling, home repairs, yard work.

Shop at a discount grocery store where you bag your own groceriers (you will need to bring your own reusable bags, some places are starting to charge for those plastic bags, you may even get a discount on your groceries for byob)

when something you normally buy is at a reduced price, buy extra

buy store brands, quite often they are as good as the original. if not, look for coupons for your favorite brand names

seek healthy recipes that use more low cost items or have a repetoire that allows you to take advantage of "in season" items

recycle cans and plastic bottles
if you are lucky enough to have scrap copper or brass, recyclers pay a premium sum

roll leftover coins and include them with your weekly deposit, allocate them to a debt, or a purchase that you've been waiting to make

More next time!
